Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies are, which ones this website uses, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains more broadly how we handle personal data.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to give site owners information about how their site is used.

Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels and tags — can be used for the same purposes. Where this policy refers to cookies, it covers those too.

2. Your choice

We do not set any non-essential cookies until you tell us we can. When you first visit the site you are asked to choose, and nothing beyond the strictly necessary is stored before you do.

You can change your mind at any time. Select Cookie Settings in the footer, or the Cookie Settings button at the bottom of any page, to reopen your preferences and turn categories on or off. Withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it.

We will ask you again if twelve months pass, or if we change the categories of cookie we use.

3. The categories we use

Strictly necessary. These make the site work — page navigation, security, submitting an enquiry form, and remembering the cookie choice you have made. The site cannot function without them, so they cannot be switched off.

Analytics. These tell us which pages are visited and how people move through the site, so we can improve it. The information is aggregated and does not identify you.

Marketing. These measure how our campaigns perform and allow relevant Credco content to be shown to you elsewhere.

Analytics and marketing cookies are off unless you switch them on.

4. Cookies this site sets

We keep this list short on purpose. At present the site sets one cookie of its own:

• credco_consent — strictly necessary. Records the cookie choice you made and when you made it, so you are not asked on every page. First-party, expires after 12 months.
• payload-token — strictly necessary. Set only when a member of Credco staff signs in to the content management system. It is never set for visitors to the public site.
• _GRECAPTCHA — strictly necessary. Set by Google reCAPTCHA, which protects our enquiry forms from automated abuse. It is used only for that, not for advertising.

If you decline analytics and marketing, no further cookies are set.

5. Third-party cookies

We use Google reCAPTCHA on our enquiry forms to tell people apart from automated scripts. It is a security measure rather than a tracking one, and we do not use it for advertising. Google's use of the data it collects is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. We do not currently run any third-party analytics or advertising tags. If that changes, the relevant tags will be held back until you have consented to the matching category, and this policy will be updated to name them before they are used.

Pages on this site may link to other websites, including our social media accounts. Those sites set their own cookies and we have no control over them. Their own policies apply once you leave our site.

6. Managing cookies in your browser

As well as the controls on this site, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of this and most other websites from working properly.

Guidance for each browser is published by its maker, and independent guidance is available at www.allaboutcookies.org.

7. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the cookies we use change. Where the change affects what we store or why, you will be asked for your consent again.
